Sunshine!

We got a nice dose of sunshine and warmth yesterday and today so we've been enjoying time outside. Had a playdate at the park yesterday with a classmate of Maria's. In the afternoon, the girls had fun playing in the sand table.

Maria loves hopscotch. This one goes up to 30.

Gotta have small feet to hit all the numbers.

Bridget has graduated to the "big kid" swing.

This is really the only way you can handle eating breakfast in our kitchen on a sunny day.

I don't look this nice when I do laundry.

Another Cool and Rainy Day

Summer doesnt seem to want to show up here but that's pretty common for June in Seattle. The girls and I got some vegetables to make refrigerator pickles for John. Maria loves them too!

We also made our own bouncy balls. It actually worked! Some Borax, cornstarch, and glue and we had a cool ball and a fun science lesson. Polymers!

Maria loved this craft.

And with the weather feeling like fall, we had chicken and dumpling soup for dinner.

First Day of Summer Break

Maria is done with kindergarten and I'm really excited to have her home for the summer. John's aunt sent the girls gift cards to Build-A-Bear over the weekend for the birthdays and Maria didn't want to waste any time getting there.

Maria chose a seahorse and Bridget chose a puppy. Both really enjoyed the experience.

In the afternoon, we made counting bead boards for a craft.

First haircut

I've been back and forth about when Bridget should get her first haircut. Some days it looks cute, and other days, it's a mess. This weekend she got annoyed with it being in her face so off we went.

She was uncharactaristically compliant. Yay!

Cute bob and a new grown up look.

The girls are in love with purple so when they dress themselves...

One of John's fellow firefighters brought some eggs from his dad's farm. They are so pretty and taste great too.

And the yolks are practically orange.

Busy week

Lots of stuff going on this week. It was Maria's last week of kindergarten and they have been studying England this month. Tea party on Thursday so she brought chicken salad sandwiches.

Made some dense bread for the tea sandwiches.

Kids in her class that morning.

Had a ton of celery sticks left over from her party so I made cream of celery soup.

Bridget's favorite playtime activity: dollhouse made by Grandpa and Grandma.

Father's Day

We have a pretty great dad at our house and celebrating him means homemade cards and his favorite foods!

Homemade chicken fried steak with gravy and hash browns for breakfast.

Maria's Party

We had Maria's 6th Birthday party at the Richmond Highlands Recreation Center this afternoon. It was a great time and her classmates had lots of fun. The rain held off too! It literally started pouring right after we got in the car to head home.

Lego sign in the kitchen area of the rec center.

Treat bags with popcorn and pretzels.

Veggies with "decorating" ranch dressing bottle.

Maria's favorite fruits. I think one kid ate like 15 strawberries on her own!

Water bottles.

Lego cake.

Birthday Time!

Maria turned six today and Bridget turned two! It is kinda crazy that they have the same birthday but it means for a lot of celebration around here all at once!

Lego cookies for school.

Bridget and her birthday balloon.

John and I took Bridget to the beach for a picnic lunch.

Birthday girl and her sushi!
